CARING FOR INVISALIGN ALIGNERS
How to Care for Your Invisalign Aligners
Proper care and good oral hygiene are essential to keep your Invisalign aligners clean, clear, and odor-free. Since the aligners are removable, it’s easy to maintain them — but consistent upkeep is important to avoid discoloration and bacteria buildup.
Tips for Keeping Your Aligners in Top Shape:
Rinse Every Time You Remove Them
Saliva and plaque can quickly build up, creating an environment for odor-causing bacteria. Always rinse your aligners with water as soon as you take them out.Brush & Floss Before Reinserting
Good oral hygiene is key. Brushing and flossing before putting your aligners back in prevents food particles and plaque from getting trapped between your teeth and the trays.Use a Soft Toothbrush & Water
Gently clean your aligners with a soft-bristled toothbrush and lukewarm water. Avoid using toothpaste, as it contains abrasive ingredients that can scratch the aligners, making them appear cloudy.Avoid Harsh Cleaners
Do not use denture cleaners, mouthwash, or hot water to clean or soak your aligners. These can damage the plastic, reduce transparency, and in some cases, cause yellowing.Never Eat or Drink with Aligners In
Except for water, remove your aligners before consuming any food or drink. Many items can stain or warp the plastic, affecting the look and function of your aligners.Handle With Care
Avoid vigorous brushing or rough handling. Scratches not only make the aligners more visible but can also trap bacteria.
