CHANGES AFTER TREATMENT

Your teeth are constantly moving, even if you can’t see it. After braces, they may still shift slightly over time due to factors such as wisdom tooth eruption, mouth breathing, or other oral habits.

This natural, minor movement often helps teeth settle into their final positions and stabilize your bite. However, the lower front teeth are more prone to shifting. In some cases, Dr. Akash A M may slightly overcorrect certain teeth during treatment to account for expected movement after the retention period. Still, some relapse can occur despite our best efforts.

If your teeth were significantly misaligned or your bite was deep before treatment, there is a greater chance of some movement back toward the original position. The best way to maintain your results is to wear your retainers exactly as prescribed by Dr. Akash A M. Retainers keep teeth aligned after braces and help prevent relapse.

Keep in mind that factors like bone growth, the natural aging process, and other changes over time are outside of our control. Wearing your retainers as directed gives you the best chance of keeping your beautiful smile for life.
