Interceptive Care

SkyAligners recommends that children have their first orthodontic evaluation by the age of 6. Detecting and addressing issues early can help prevent minor concerns from developing into more serious problems.

Common indicators that a child may need an orthodontic assessment include—though are not limited to—premature or delayed loss of baby teeth, difficulty chewing, mouth breathing, thumb or finger sucking, crowded or crooked teeth, jaw irregularities, a recessed or protruding jaw, or noticeable misalignment of teeth. Some orthodontic issues may not be immediately visible. That’s why we offer complimentary initial consultations—an easy and practical way to monitor and protect your child’s oral health.

Interceptive treatment involves orthodontic care provided before all permanent teeth have emerged, typically between the ages of 6 and 8. At this stage, we can often correct significant concerns such as crossbites, jaw growth discrepancies, or early misalignment of the front teeth—issues that can also impact a child’s confidence. Starting treatment early may simplify or reduce the need for Phase II treatment later on, leading to more effective and lasting results.

Extractions

Our treatment approach focuses on achieving both optimal aesthetics and functionality. When extractions are the most effective way to reach these goals, we will recommend them.

Adolescents

Orthodontics involves more than just aligning crooked teeth. Conditions such as overbites, underbites, misaligned smiles, and chins that appear sunken or overly prominent can all be addressed through orthodontic care. Achieving proper alignment of the teeth and jaws is essential for maintaining long-term oral health.

We believe that beginning treatment during adolescence offers the best chance for optimal results. At this stage of life, children are developing their sense of identity and direction, making it an ideal time to not only guide their dental development but also support and encourage them as they grow.

Adults

Many adults were unable to receive orthodontic care during childhood and have spent much of their lives dealing with misaligned teeth or bite issues. For these individuals, orthodontic treatment can be especially rewarding. We find that adult patients tend to be highly motivated and committed to achieving a better smile.

Teeth play a crucial role in supporting the soft tissues of the lower face, including the lips and cheeks. By realigning the teeth and jaws, we can often enhance facial appearance—resulting in tighter skin and fuller lips. In many cases, we can improve facial aesthetics without the need for surgery or tooth extractions by designing treatment plans that use appliances to expand the jaw and reposition teeth and gums.
